These past 6 months have been a bit of a whirlwind for me. The devastation from the Valley Fire to our community has taken time to process and recover from. I can honestly say that without the patience, kindness and generosity of our community (this includes you!) the outcome could have been so much more difficult. I owe you all an update and I want to share where this next season is leading us!
When we lost our home in the fire, my family relocated back to St. Helena, where I grew up. It wasn't long before we felt like we were "home." With grandparents nearby, old friends whose kids were now attending the same school we once did, a church community who welcomed us with so much love and generosity. There was this intense comfort in being able to rest in a community where we had so much rich history. So, we decided to sell the five-acre ranch property our house had once stood on, and begin looking for a home back in the Napa Valley.
I continued to commute about an hour each way to our warehouse in Middletown a few days/week, while our rockstar employees kept things rolling. On the days I worked from my home office, I really missed being hands-on, and I missed the energy and camaraderie of our headquarters.
In February, we found a dreamy little piece of land on a hill, adjacent to a peaceful, rolling vineyard, and my husband and I made the decision to rebuild. Not only a dwelling, but our dreams for our family. A few days after we entered into contract for the property, a commercial building opened up just down the street and it sealed the deal.
Last week we moved Zoe Organics to our new home. As excited as I am about this new adventure, it's bittersweet. We are leaving the community where Zoe Organics got its start – those who have supported us and cheered us on. As I walked out of my office for the last time, I couldn't help but feel emotional. So much had happened in that office during the past two years. Some of the greatest "wins" and some of the hardest battles were fought in that room. So many hours, so much growth, so much grace.
I'm looking forward to what this next season will bring. As we position ourselves for more growth, we push our roots deeper into the soil of what we stand for. We are a community with a vision and with purpose, and we can handle more than we ever thought possible.... because we have each other.
It never feels old to tell you how grateful I am for you.
I am blessed.
