Nine Green Beauty Products That We're Raving About

The most challenging switch from conventional to natural/organic products for me has been finding hair care products that actually perform. I've tried my share of bad natural shampoos that left my hair frizzy or matted, products that made my hair line break out and scalp itch. I've experimented with wide range of hair styles as well. From the super short pixie (oh yeah, and that dare in college to shave my head!) to the long, thick hair I have now. My hair has gone from thick and voluminous to thin and brittle postpartum. And from very straight to very wavy (thanks kids!). It's safe to say I've used a LOT of hair products. As a former Bumble and Bumble addict, I'm really thrilled to finally have products that are both safe and nourish my head and scalp. Did you know that your scalp is the most sensitive and most absorbent skin on your body? Check out these super clean hair and scalp products that have won me over.

Rahua Voluminous Shampoo + Conditioner: I very recently purchased this shampoo and conditioner and was skeptical as to whether or not it would live up to all the hype. I'm loving the very light, slightly earthy scent, the great lather and the "just right" conditioner weight. My hair feels clean and dries so soft and with lots of volume. I'm loving these so much, I'll be taking the travel sizes with me to Chicago this week.

One Love Organics Dry Shampoo: This dry shampoo has been one of my beauty staples since it came out last year. I'm an every-other-day-hair-washer, and this magic powder is perfect on the off days. I sprinkle it on my roots (my hair is very dark brown) and a little tussle and shake and voila. On these days, my dry shampoo is followed by several of the products below.

La Bella Figura Elysian Fields Hair & Body Hydro-essence + Bohemia Verde Aromatic Hair Elixir: These beauties are like the Ritz Carlton of hair treatments. I am a big fan of LBF and after using these two products for the last month, I'm really sold on how well they incorporate into my hair care rituals and take them to a delightful new level. I keep the Elysian Fields Hair & Body Hydro-essence at my desk and spritz on my hair and face when I need a little refresh. On the days I don't wash my hair, I love to spritz Elysian Fields and scrunch, then add a few drops of Bohemian Verde Aromatic Hair Elixir to the ends and tame any fly-aways. This hair elixir is a really nice finishing treatment after washing and drying as well. The scent of anything LBF is dreamy and I didn't realize how much I'd love having gorgeously smelling oil in my hair! It's like hair perfume.

Josh Rosebrook Lift Hair Texture and Volume Spray + Styling Cream: I knew Josh Rosebrook's Lift would be my new BFF as soon as I read about it. It has not disappointed. If you, like me, love(d) Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray, this product achieves the same look, but with super clean and beneficial ingredients. My hair is thick and wavy, so I spray it on damp hair and let it air dry. For a little extra styling power, I love finishing with a bit of Josh Rosebrook's Styling Cream on the ends.

Captain Blankenship Mermaid Sea Salt Hair Spray: This is a lightweight salt spray with simple ingredients and the beautiful scent of geranium. It is one of those products that you can use and not feel like you have crunchy, greasy or heavy product in your hair. I think it is ideal for someone with fine, thin or shorter hair looking for some extra volume and texture. I felt like my hair is a little too heavy, but I've loved spritzing and scrunching on days when I didn't wash my hair and it feels fresh and light.

Yarok Feed Your Curls Defining CreamI'm a fan of all Yarok products I've tried, but I recently started using the Feed Your Curls Defining Cream. I've been playing up my natural curl a bit and love anything I can apply and then let air dry. I love the soft curl this product produces. The texture is more like a lotion than a pomade and you work it through your hair while damp.

What natural hair care products are you hooked on? Isn't it exciting that we finally have some REALLY great options? Many of these brands will be at A Night For Green Beauty this Thursday in Chicago! Can't wait to see everyone there!
