In Loving Memory of Dr. Shannon

I wasn't prepared for the news I received about my dear friend, Dr. Shannon.

He had been there at the hospital when my first son was born, and a few years later, my second. He took care of my babies and supported me as a brand new mama who anxiously made extra appointments when I needed to just make sure my baby was ok. He was always calm, and loving and put me at ease. He was only a phone call or text away when we moved from Southern to Northern California and God surely knew I needed him in my life. 

Shortly after I launched Zoe Organics in 2010, he was in a serious car accident which left him critically injured. He called me from the hospital asking if I had a product that would help with his wound healing. This conversation was the beginning of what would become Dr. Shannon's Skin Balm, and eventually a permanent product in Zoe Organics product line. You can read more about our story here.

From Pediatrician, to friend, to business partner; Dr. Shannons was one of my very favorite humans. The impact he had on my life is significant and the lessons I learned from him will be with me forever. I know I'm not the only one. Those who had the privilege of having him as their pediatrician or of knowing him personally experienced his warm, loving nature. He had a way of making everyone feel special and his passing leaves a terrible void.

Dr. Shannon cared for thousands of patients during his over 40 years in practice. One of the causes he devoted himself to was to #ConquorKidsCancer and for years he would fundraise and shave his head for St. Baldrick's Foundation. This is why as I was thinking of a way Zoe Organics could honor Dr. Shannon and his legacy, I knew we could support this cause through the sale of all Dr. Shannon's Skin Balm purchases. From today, through November 1st, Zoe Organics will donate 50% of all profits from the sale of Dr. Shannon's Skin Balm to St. Baldrick's Foundation in Dr. Shannon's honor. We will also be looking at other ways to continue to contribute to his legacy. 

Dr. Shannon is no longer here on this earth, but his memory and his legacy remains strong with us at Zoe Organics. Dr. Shannon's Skin Balm, the product we developed together and that he confidently recommended to his patients, will remain a special piece of him that lives on.
